how often should you change a horse's shoes?

and should you make that purchase at the "shoe dept"?
Answers:
You should leave the shoes alone, because kitty cats
dont mess with horses.
Ask your vet. Different horses have different requirements, and if the shoes are the wrong size, or not the proper type, it can make your horse lame.
At least every 2 month's, That's what we do.
WHEN THEY GROW OUT-YOU CAN TELL BY LOOKING AT THEM
depends what your doing with him,,casual riding once a month or so ,gymkhana usually every 2 or3 events , winter time if you are not riding much pull the shoes and let him go bare foot, type of shoe to use is back to what you will be doing talk to your farrier that's what they go to school for
Horses who are regularly worked should be trimmed and shod (if you want shoes) every 6 weeks. Horses under light or no work may be able to go up to 8 weeks between trimmings. Shoes are not necessary on every horse, but all horses should have their feet trimmed. Get in touch with a good farrier.
