How often should I take my 7' red tailed boa out of the cage and handle it?

I have a 7' Red Tailed Boa, and have had it for 4 years. It is in a quite large environment, and I built a "jungle gym" for him to climb around on. He appears to be quite happy and he is certainly very healthy. How often is it recommended to take him out of the cage and handle him? I honestly do not take him out that much maybe once every couple of months.

Holding it a couple times a week is fine. It's easier to overhandle a snake than underhandle it. You neeed to interact with it in order to keep it from seeing you as harmful instead of helpful. however most snakes only tolerate handling. They do not prefer it or like it. Handling the snake does not really tame it as it just let's it trust that you are not a predator but just some creature that moves it from time to time. once it has established it's trust than you don't NEED to handle it all the time. A snake can live a pefectly happy existance never being held. Unlike cats and dogs they do not have to have interaction with their owners. Some snakes no matter how much they are held will just be agressive no matter one. As long as it's eating, shedding, and healthy all around living happily in it's enclosure it's all up to you.
I try to handle my snake as often as possible!
NEVER! it might eat you for dinner!
NEVER!! let it go wild
Carefully,very carefully!
At least once a day.
a 7 foot snake is a big animal.. if it were me i would not handle him very often.
You should know this kind of stuff BEFORE you get a pet.
As often as you can but at least once a day.
at least once every few days if you want to keep him used to you, can't wait till my red tailed boa gets that big lol
It is ideal to handle your snake about 3 times a week for short periods. This not only ensures he remains tame, but will keep him from thinking that each time his enclosure is opened that it is feeding time.. This is very important when you have a snake of this size. You know you snake better than we all do though, some have a naturaly better disposition than other and could be left alone for extended periods and still tolerate being held right off.
i would honestly hold hold him at least every couple of days preferably every day for at about 30 minutes. but every day is not realistic if you are very busy and if you go a couple of days he wont forget you (especially after 4 years) but i would never go more than a week without at least picking him up for a little while. these large snakes do demand a little bit of time and attention to stay very calm and not start biting from stress.
handle you snake as much as possible so it will remember you
and not bite
I agree with those stating it's best to handle the snake a few times a week. This is mainly to make sure that the snake doesn't think that every time the snake's cage is opened it will be getting a meal. It will make it easier for you in the long run when you need to clean it's cage.
